I am not going to lie; I hate them! I hate buns and braids and all-that. I makes me want to vomit! I even hate braid-ins and out... It always looks good on the first day, but my hair dries out and I am stuck with a hot mess of hair!
If this would be a perfect world, I would go about my day leaving my hair down and not caring about a thing...
But I NEED to protect my hair, so I do bun it up ( Not doughnut buns though, I have my limits!) But, I hate how it looks, it not very full and not as long as I would like... I want a HUGE messy bun without messing up my hair! What to do?
I pondered about this on sunday, before heading to a super bowl party with my family. Then, EUREKA! I had left over extensions, that I never used! I never use them, because I decided to take care of my own hair, plus I hate having them on... My scalp would get all itchy and I like the freedom of having nothing on my head!
I went to fetch my glossy, shinny, silky weave. But it was the kind that you have to sew on. Well, this is what I did:
- I made a pony tail out of it with an elastic and I combed it out.
- Then, I made a pony tail with my hair and swirled my hair around itself. Securing it with bobby pins.
- I took the weave, and where the weft part is shown, I bobby pined it to the bottom part of my pony tail.
- Then I took the weave and flip it around, hiding my real hair and the wefts.
- I took another elastic, tied it up and used bobby pins to secure the weave.
It looks like a fake pony, but as a bun, without any cost, since I already had the weave lying around.
Now I have a huge full bun that it protecting my hair! It rocks!!
I've found that a pretty hair accessory can perk up a dull updo or bun. Flexi8 (www.flexi8.com) and hairzing (www.hairzing.com) are two of my favorite hair accessories.
Tracyee from KISS has some very nice bun videos. If your hair is long enough you might want to try them.
